About OUAL

Our purpose is to help a child in two ways:

1.         By sharing stories. Stories offer history, education, and entertainment from our experiences.  In our everyday lives, we meet unique and extraordinary people all around us.  Those from different neighbourhoods, cities, and countries.  All with distinct traditions, beliefs, and backgrounds.  We are all different yet similar, and we all have a story.

2.         By growing a social enterprise that generates revenue to develop and deliver custom programming designed to help children individually.

Our initiative, inspired by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child, is a world where children have opportunities.  I feel the convention is one of the most essential and beautiful documents ever written. It is a foundation for lighting the path to a flourishing life for children and healthy societies and is key to some of our global problems. The fact that 196 countries have ratified the convention demonstrates that the world holds their children in high regard.

Statement of Inclusion

At Once Upon a Lifetime (OUAL), we don’t just accept difference; we look for it, we support it, and we thrive on it for the benefits it brings to our community. OUAL is committed to enhancing kids’ and families’ chances for a better life.

All of our lives, as diverse as we are, contribute to our shared experience and, at the same time, define similarities.  OUAL activities honour and value our similarities and differences for what they can contribute to our community.

Mission

To provide quality services and programs in support of children on a case-specific manner, to ensure that children’s physical, psychological and financial health and the full spectrum of their UNCRC rights are met.

Vision

A world where all children are given every opportunity to grow into adulthood with inherent respect, love and understanding for each other and the planet.
